Welcome to the September 2025 release notes from Virto Commerce!
This month’s updates deliver new modules and enhanced shopping features. Key highlights include:
- 3 new modules released: News, Shopify Taxonomy, and SQL Queries.
- Save for later option introduced in the Frontend.
- Virto OZ demo video released.
Save for later. Frontend 2.28.0 + xCart 3.931.0
The Save for later feature allows customers to move items from their shopping cart into a dedicated list for future purchase without losing track of them.
With this feature, customers can:
- Save products from the cart for later consideration.
- View all saved items in a dedicated Saved for later widget on the cart page.
- Access a Saved for later list at any time.
- Easily move saved products back into the cart when ready to buy.
Slider widget added for price facet. Frontend 2.28.0
Users can now adjust the price range directly in the facets using an interactive slider widget. This functionality only works with Elasticsearch 8.

Independent checkout from shopping lists. Frontend. 2.29.0
Users can now purchase list items independently of the cart: the list and the cart act as two separate carts in this case. This allows customers to manage and purchase items from a list without affecting their shopping cart:
Back-in-stock notifications added for product variations. Frontend 2.29.0
The Notify me when in stock button has been added for product variations:
Hidden megamenu for anonymous users. Frontend 2.29.0
The megamenu can now be hidden from anonymous users if anonymous store visits are prohibited:
Megamenu keyboard navigation. Frontend 2.29.0
Users now can navigate the menu using keyboard arrow keys:

Page Builder blocks alignment with Builder.io. Frontend 2.29.0
Some Page Builder components have been made visually and functionally closer to Builder.io blocks for a more consistent experience. For example:
- Slider.
- Products.
- Favourite products.
- Category.
You can now create similar pages with either Page Builder or Builder.io.
News module first release
The News module enables content managers to publish news articles for selected user groups using different languages within the Virto Commerce Platform. Additionally, the module offers features for scheduling articles publishing.
With the News module, users can:
- Write articles using extended markup.
- Localize articles into multiple languages.
- Select multiple target user groups.
- Schedule publication.
- Clone articles.
- Set up SEO data.
Shopify Taxonomy module first release
The Shopify Taxonomy module allows you to import Shopify’s standard product taxonomy into the Virto Commerce Catalog. It improves the performance and quality of new catalog configurations with open-source taxonomies and attributes.
Shopify’s Standard Product Taxonomy serves as an open-source, standardized, and global classification of products sold on Shopify. Composed of product categories, attributes, and attribute values, the taxonomy is leveraged across Shopify and is integrated with numerous marketplaces.
SQL Queries module first release
The SQL Queries module is designed to empower administrators and developers by providing a secure and flexible way to perform direct database queries within the VirtoCommerce environment. It integrates seamlessly with the Platform and supports a variety of query types, enhancing the ability to retrieve, analyze, and manage business data without external tools.
The SQL Queries module allows you to:
- Execute custom SQL queries against the Virto Commerce databases.
- Control query access by integrating with the platform’s security and permissions system.
- Return results in user-friendly formats for reporting and analysis: HTML, PDF, CSV, XLSX.
- Use query parameters such as Short Text, Date Time, Boolean, Integer, and Decimal.
- Work with multiple database providers: SQL Server (default), MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
- Define and use multiple connection strings.
New filters structure and filter improvements. Search 3.816.0 + Elasticsearch 8. 3.817.0 + xCatalog 3.927.0 + xAPI 3.919.0
The search API now provides a clearer separation between facets (all available product attributes, passive) and filters (user selections, dynamic), making it easier to refine results and manage applied filters.
The updates include the following:
- New filters structure returned from
searchProductsenables a clear mapping between facets (available options) and filters (applied selections). - Filters are now displayed as chips, which can be used to clear selections easily.
- An inactive state has been added for the price slider (gray) when intervals are inappropriate.
- The response fields have been extended:
price: { selectedStart, selectedEnd }– shows user-selected price ranges.facets -> range_facets -> price: { min, max }– provides overall price boundaries.
- Rendering logic shows slider if
min/maxexist, otherwise show a price range facet.
